East Providence's Carousel Park Commission in collaboration with Anna Gasbarro of Gasbarro Liquors will host their First Annual Food and Wine Pairing on Thursday night at Crescent Park/Looff Carousel.
The event includes a silent auction and will highlight local cuisine from right here in East Providence from restaurants like Avenue N, B. Pinelli’s, Blount Seafood, China Gourmet, Lucky’s Bar & Grille, Madeira, Oxford Tavern and St. Angelo’s. Knowledgeable staff from Gasbarro’s will be on hand to help attendees find the perfect wine. Guests will also enjoy desserts and coffee from Taunton Avenue Bakery and Providence Coffee Roasters.
Tickets are still available by calling 401-435-7518 and cost $35 per person or $60 per couple. All proceeds will benefit the continued restoration of the Charles I.D. Looff Carousel and band organ.
The hand-carved carousel was built in 1895 by Charles I. D. Looff at Crescent Park Amusement Park in Riverside and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. The ride's fifty-foot platform contains sixty-one horses, one camel, two single coaches and two double chariots.
