Cars, Pols Dedicate Waterfront Drive
The new road along the Seekonk River in East Providence was officially dedicated Friday morning, Nov. 30.
Classic cars were paired with politicans Friday morning, Nov. 30, in East Providence for the official opening of a new road: Waterfront Drive along the Seekonk River from Warren Avenue to Dexter Road. A parade of classic cars owned by customers of SD Concepts, which is moving from West Warwick to Dexter Road in East Providence, drove down Waterfront Drive and through a red ribbon hung over the road. "It was a unique way to officially open the road, rather than using gold scissors to cut the ribbon, as is usually the case with ribbon cutting ceremonies," said a spokesperson for RIDOT. Among the dignitaries who spoke were RI Gov. Lincoln Chafee, RIDOT Director Michael Lewis, and East Providence Mayor Bruce Rogers.
