Project 106 Aims to Raise $30K By Summer's End
The organization has raised over $1,000 to fund middle school sports.
Project 106 has a deadline.
Chrissy Rossi, an organizer and East Providence School committee member, the non-profit needs to raise $30,000 by the end of the summer to fund the fall's middle school sports season. Organizations say they need $106,000 in total to fund middle school sports each year, according to the city budget reports.
Project 106 signs were planted throughout the K-Rob Family Fun Event grounds. Volunteers manned a booth to get the word out and accept donations. So far, the organization has raised over $1,000.
"I have a box full of [cash]," Rossi said at Sunday's K-Rob Family Fun Festival.
According to Rossi, the K-Rob Foundation has not discussed donating funds to the middle school sports programs but has been instrumental in raising awareness.
