112 Decorated Trees at WinterFest

The annual event is Saturday, Dec. 1, at the East Providence Senior Center complex off of Waterman Avenue.

It’s time for another WinterFest in East Providence on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The Senior Center complex at 610 Waterman Ave. will come alive with a winterscape of “112 uniquely decorated live Christmas trees,” according to Alba Curti of the recreation department.

Santa Claus will arrive by fire engine at 6 pm to illuminate the winterscape, Curti said, which will include “several replicas of city landmarks constructed by students and sponsored by merchants and other individuals.”

WinterFest is much more than decorated trees, though.

Starting at 9 am, an arts and crafts fair will open with special holiday gifts.

At 3 pm, East Providence High School choral ensembles will entertain. At 4 pm, youth librarian Pamela Schwieger will sing and tell holiday stories for children.

Children also can make a holiday ornament and get their photos taken with Santa until 8 pm.

Holiday treats, baked items, and other food and beverages will be served all day.

WinterFest is a collaboration of the recreation department and the WinterFest Committee. The event is free; there is no admission charge.
