This Weekend: School Vacation Week Begins; Golf Expo in Town

Here are five things you should know heading into this President's Day weekend in East Providence.

  1. The weekend weather looks like a mixed bag: Showers are very likely today and possibly on Sunday, but Saturday looks clear. Check out the National Weather Service forecast details.
  2. When school lets out today, it's officially the start of February vacation week in the East Providence public schools.
  3. The Keystone State Boyschoir performs twice this weekend over in Barrington:  Friday night at Temple Habonim at 7:30 pm and Saturday at 7 pm at the Congregational Church.  This group is considered one of the finest community based boys choir choral programs in the country. After Barrington, the next stop is Radio City Music Hall.
  4. Barrington Books hosts a book signing on Saturday afternoon with Dr. Paul Ruggieri, who wrote "“Confessions of a Surgeon: The Good, the Bad, and the Complicated ... Life Behind the O.R.”
  5. February is more than half over, so can the golf season be far behind?  The 2012 Southeastern New England Golf Expo is coming to the RI Convention Center on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10-5 and Sunday, Feb. 19, from 11 - 5. Tickets are available at the door for $9 each (children under 12 are free) or discounted at AAA branches if you are a member. This celebration of golf benefits the Boys and Girls Clubs of Providence.
