Tuesday: Princess Party; Racing at the Recreation Center
Here are five things you should know today in East Providence.
- Today will be sunny with a high of 44 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
- The East Providence Conservation Commission meets tonight at 7:30 pm in City Hall.
- Today is sometimes known as "Shrove Tuesday", the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. In many English-speaking countries, this day is known for the eating of pancakes, because pancakes were made of the main foods available - sugar, fat, flour and eggs - which were restricted during the Lenten fast. The day is also celebrated as Mardi Gras, fat Tuesday, the day to feast before the fast.
- Vacation Week programs at the libraries include a Princess Party at Weaver at 10 am and a Year of the Dragon program at Rumford.
- The Recreation Department begins Game Week 2012 today, with activities for kids every day during vacation. Today it's Ready to Race!
