Wednesday: Business During Hours; More Damp Weather

Here are five things you should know today in East Providence.

 
  1. The wet weather continues.  The forecast calls for a chance of showers and a high temperature of 58 degrees today.
  2. The East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce offers a Business During Hours today at Davenport's.
  3. The Roving Eye International Film Festival at Roger Williams University in Bristol runs through tomorrow.
  4. Pop quiz about this date in history:  Who was Samantha Smith?  She was a fifth-grader from Maine who write to then-Russian leader Yuri Andropov asking if the Soviets were planning to start a nuclear war.  Andropov wrote a letter to Samantha which was released on this date in 1983, inviting her to visit his country.  See more from www.history.com.
  5. Fuller Library offers Storytime at 10:30 am; Weaver offers Bookies at 3:45 pm and an evening Story Time at 6:30 pm.
