TLA/Pond View Opponents Ask Council Why Zoning Officer 'Isn't Doing His Job'

Residents say the city was granted inspection rights during a May 3 court hearing.

Residents living along Roger Williams Avenue want one question answered: Why haven't city officials inspected the "little Johnston landfill" — the TLA/Pond View premises? A group that opposes the Dexter Road recycling facility, currently in receivership, took the podium to make some noise about the issue at last Tuesday's City Council meeting. Members said the city's zoning officer should be monitoring the premises after Judge Michael Silverstein granted city officials inspection rights during a May 3 court hearing.  "It's been 10 days ... Do your jobs," said Joanne Durfee, a member of the East Providence Action Coalition, during Tuesday's meeting. Ken Schneider, of East Providence Coalition, said a previous council was duped after a …

I do believe Ms. Durfee has her own agenda and she is probably one of the reason's this issue continues, along with her boy Conley. However, if the ruling was it is back in the hands of the city and Mr. Pimenal than he should do his job. For this issue to still be going on 14 years later is a disgrace. Resolve once and for all.   more ›

Can someone explain why the East Providence boats are housed in Barrington? For years they have been out of Cove Haven and they have recently moved to Lavins Marina. Why are they not at the marinas in East Providence? We have the marinas on the Terrace and also down towards East Providence Yacht Club. How much does it cost the city of East Providence for these slips? It would be nice to support …   more ›
