A Real Hoot Tonight, Halloween, Scout up some Food, Things to Know

Hootenanny tonight - Providence Hoot is pleased to announce the Halloween Hootenanny, the organization’s first ever open mic night, to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 7-10 p.m. at Anchor (42 Rice Street) in Providence. This is a free event that is open to the public - musicians and spectators alike.

Halloween
- If you've got kids, or have stopped in at any retail outlet during the last several weeks, you likely know Thursday is All's Hallowed Eve. Please keep an eye out for kids Thursday night, keep yours visible to and wary of motorists, and check out a few other safety tips

Candy trade - Donate your Halloween Candy to any Children’s Workshop locations, and receive a free children's book! All of the candy that we collect will be shipped to the troops serving overseas via Operation Gratitude.

You must bring in at least 30 pieces of candy to swap for a book. Of course, we appreciate the donation, even if you don't want a book. The  locations at 411 Narragansett Park Drive in Rumford and 833 Willett Ave in Riverside.

Scouting for Food - On Saturday local Boy Scouts dropped off donation bags at local homes for their biggest food drive of the year. They'll pick them up on Nov. 2.

Things - If you've got something you'd like featured in our morning notes, e-mail a brief description including day and time, to Rob Borkowski at robert@patch.com, and we'll get it in the next morning.
