Council Tuesday, Foster Care Info Night, A 5K and Fossil Day

City Council - The East Providence City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Council Chambers at City Hall, 145 Taunton Ave.

Foster Care Info Night - The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families and Foster Forward are hosting a Foster Care and Adoption Information Night Thursday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Foster Forward, 55 South Brow St., East Providence. DCYF staff, foster, and adoptive parents will be available to explain the program and answer questions. The Information Night is open to anyone interested in exploring becoming a foster or adoptive parent for children in DCYF care.  Please stop by and learn how you can make a difference in the life of a child! Fossil Day at Roger Williams - Visit the Museum of Natural History and Cormack Planetarium at Roger Williams,  1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence, this Saturday, Oct. 12, from 12 to 3 p.m. for their Annual Fossil Day. Explore RI's fossil history from the Coal Age to the Ice Age, bring your own fossil to be identified, and enjoy a fossil quest and fossil puzzle. Call 401-785-9457.

Free to Breathe 5K Register today for the sixth annual Free to Breathe 5K run/walk and 1-mile walk on Saturday morning, Oct. 12, at Daggett Farm - Slater Memorial Park in Pawtucket. The event will bring people together to raise funds for research into and early detection and treatment of lung cancer. All proceeds support the non-profit National Lung Cancer Partnership.
