Hear Gun Talk, Eat Ice Cream, Share High School News

Here are some things to know about today in East Providence.

Here are a few things you may want to know about today, Sept. 17, in East Providence:

  • Mostly sunny but with temperatures getting only up into the low 60s – a definite early fall day in the final days of summer.
  • East Bay Citizens for Peace presents “Guns: Public Policy, Politics and Law,” a talk by Professor Carl T. Bogus of Roger Williams University School of Law, at 7 pm in the Barrington Public Library. Professor Bogus will discuss the issues of gun control and gun rights in America including why gun control is so politically difficult to achieve.
  • The Riverside branch library, 475 Bullocks Point Ave., offers a laptop hour for teens right after school at 3 pm.
  • Weaver Library hosts an ice cream social for kids of all ages from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
  • Share all your news and information about academics, sports, the arts, anything you want on the blogs created for East Providence High School and Bay View Academy. 
  • The East Providence High School girls’ volleyball team plays Mt. St. Charles Academy at home at 6:30 pm; the boys’ soccer team plays Central High School at Pierce Field on Mercer Street at 7 pm; the girls’ soccer team travels to Westerly High School for a 6 pm match.
