Parking Ban, Flu Clinic Today, Trash Delay

Parking ban: The East Providence DPW and Police Department have announced a parking ban for the city as a snowstorm predicted to drop 6-12 inches on the area continues today.

Any cars parked on the street, given a reasonable grace period, will be ticketed and towed to make way for plows.
 

Flu Clinic today - 
The Dept. of Health has strongly encouraged Cities and Towns to offer flu vaccination clinics are flu cases, in particular H1N1, are on the rise. Accordingly, the City will host a clinic on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 5-8 p.m. at the Senior Center. 

Everyone aged six months and older can receive a flu shot at this event.
The strain of flu that is most prominent this year is H1N1. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have observed that this strain is disproportionately impacting children, young adults, and middle-aged adults this year.   
 

Trash delay
 - Due to the short holiday week, On Monday Jan. 20 in the observance of Martin Luther King Day; rubbish pick-up for the week of Jan. 20 to Jan. 24 will be delayed by one day. 

Athletics Booster Raffle
 - Every Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mulhearn's Pub, 507 N. Broadway, the East Providence Middle School Athletics Boosters host a raffle. Items raffled off range from lobsters to grills.

Little League Signups
- Registration for the 2014 season of Rumford Little League is now open, and you can register online. New this season, player fees will be collected online using a MasterCard or Visa credit/debit card.
 
Faith/Freedom Exhibit - The RI Faith and Freedom Exhibit in partnership with the RI Historical Society, opened Jan. 8 . Call the library @ 434-2453 before you come. There will be a lecture by Brown University Professor Linford Fisher on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. entitled "Paradise Lost? The Origins and Legacies of Rhode Island’s Religious Freedom".
