See 'Banned Books' Presentation; Hear All About 'Obamacare'

Here are some things you may want to know about in East Providence.

Here are some things you should know about in and around East Providence today, Sept. 26: 

  • Mostly sunny with temperatures getting into the high 60s.
  • The Weaver Library teams up with the RI ACLU for a free dramatic presentation by Living Literature titled “Books: Banned, Challenged & Restricted” at 6:30 pm with actors Barry Press, Sharon Carpentier and Kelly Seigh.
  • The Riverside branch library, 475 Bullocks Point Ave., hosts a free seminar 6 pm on “Obamacare” and what the affordable care act means to everyone. Sponsors include the East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce; HealthSourceRI, the state’s new insurance exchange; the US Small Business Administration and the Health Insurance Small Employer Taskforce. 
  • The East Providence High School girls’ volleyball team plays at home at 6:30 pm against Prout School while the girls’ tennis team plays at home against Toll Gate at 3:30 pm. 
  • The second annual Food and Wine Pairing to continue the preservation of East Providence’s historic Looff Carousel at Crescent Park runs from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The carousel is located at 700 Bullocks Point Ave. in Riverside.
