Storm Watch, Rubbish Schedule, Phone Tome, Trash Your Tree

Storm watch- Word has it there's a winter storm watch in effect for RI, with a possible 6-10 inches of snow forecast for East Providence. You'll want to keep your car off the street so the city can clear it.

In other snow related news:

  • East Providence Public Schools: No afternoon activities.
  • There will be a parking ban in effect for the city starting at 3 p.m. - Any cars parked on the street after that time, given a reasonable grace period, will be ticketed and towed to make way for plows.
  • CODAC - East Bay: Closed Friday; Bring Takehome Box Thursday
  • Trailside Daycare: Closing Thursday @ 3 p.m.

Holiday Rubbish Schedule - All holidays (with the exception of Presidents Day) will result in a one day delay in Rubbish, Recycling and Yard Waste (in season) collections for the remainder of the week. That means the schedule will be delayed one day staring Thursday.

Phone tomes - East Providence Public Library's Weaver Library is experiencing telephone difficulties. They're installing a new phone system and only have one line right now. If you are unable to get through to Weaver, call Riverside Branch at 433-4877.

Tree drop-off - The City of East Providence will accept Christmas trees at various locations throughout the city. They'll begin collecting them next week.

Councilors meet:
The next City Council meeting is Jan. 7. Check here for a report from their last meeting Dec. 17, where they OK'd a tax stabilization plan and delayed a formal search for a permanent City Manager.
