Waddington Open, Winter Songs, Chess Club, Warm Spots

Waddington open for class - Waddington Elementary School's heat is back online, so there'll be school there today, kids. 

"Songs of Winter" at Weaver today - Today, 10-10:45 a.m., Weaver Library, join Lindsay Meehan of Mary Ann Hall's "Music for Children" for a celebration of winter! Sing the snowflakes down from the clouds, jump the stories right off the page, and dance a snowstorm. No registration required.

Faith/Freedom Exhibit - The RI Faith and Freedom Exhibit in partnership with the RI Historical Society, opened Jan. 8 . Call the library @ 434-2453 before you come. There will be a curator's talk on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. as well as a lecture by Brown University Professor Linford Fisher on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. entitled "Paradise Lost? The Origins and Legacies of Rhode Island’s Religious Freedom".

Warm Spots - Windy and cold temps are rising another four degrees to a scorching 30 degrees today from yesterday's high of about 26. If that's somehow not warm enough for you, check out these spots to warm up for a while, and don't miss this list of cold weather tips.

Check, mate - Registration is now open for the Chess Club at Riverside Branch Library. Wednesdays Jan. 15 - Feb. 19, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Ages 6 - 18. Learn to play or improve your skills. Call 401-433-4877 to register.

Tree drop-off/pickup - The City of East Providence is accepting Christmas trees at various locations throughout the city. They'll also be collecting them at the curb according to your regular pickup schedule.
