Check, mate - Registration is now open for the Chess Club at Riverside Branch Library. Wednesdays Jan. 15 - Feb. 19, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Ages 6 - 18. Learn to play or improve your skills. Call 401-433-4877 to register.

"Songs of Winter" at Weaver - On Thursday, Jan. 9, 10-10:45 a.m., Weaver Library, join Lindsay Meehan of Mary Ann Hall's "Music for Children" for a celebration of winter! Sing the snowflakes down from the clouds, jump the stories right off the page, and dance a snowstorm. No registration required.

 Tree drop-off/pickup - The City of East Providence is accepting Christmas trees at various locations throughout the city. They'll also be collecting them at the curb according to your regular pickup schedule.
