BAY VIEW ACADEMY LACROSSE PLAYERS HONORED WITH ALL-STATE AND US ALL-ACADEMIC TITLES

All-State and US All-Academic girls’ lacrosse selections have been announced, including four Bay View Academy athletes. Two-time team captain, Devan Miller (a senior from Bristol, RI), earned her second All-State title this year, as the second leading scorer in Division-I. Her 58 goals and 33 assists secured her spot on the 1st Team All-State. Devan will play lacrosse for the University of New Hampshire next year. According to the Providence Journal, Bay View Coach Kelly Souza (Providence, RI) said that Devan’s “dedication, hard work and unselfish attitude inspire teammates to be the best they can be, on and off the field.”

Devan, along with two of her senior teammates, Taylor Coffey (Warwick, RI) and Alexandra Scala (East Providence, RI), also earned the title of US Lacrosse All-Academic. This honor is given to a player who “exhibits exemplary lacrosse skills, good sportsmanship on the field, and represents high standards of academic achievement in the classroom,” (according to USlacrosse.org). Alexandra will attend Brown University in the fall. Taylor will attend Quinnipiac University.

Rylee Leonard, a junior from Coventry, was appointed to 2nd Team All-State.
