CLASS OF 1964 KICKS OFF REUNION YEAR WITH SCHOLARSHIPS
In recognition of their 50th reunion year, members of the East Providence High School Class of 1964 reached out to classmates to help raise money for scholarships. Alumni volunteered at the recent phone-a-thon sponsored by Scholarship Foundation of East Providence and made calls to classmates throughout the country.
Alumni established the EPHS Class of 1964 Scholarship in 1989 in memory of deceased class members. Over the past 25 years, the Class of 1964 has awarded more than $35,000 in scholarships to East Providence students through Scholarship Foundation of East Providence. Last year the Class of 1964 raised $3,500 for scholarships. With matching funds, the class hopes to raise $5,000 to award as EPHS Class of 1964 Scholarships for this landmark year.
"We are happy with the generous pledges classmates have made," stated Susan Roe Jordan, class secretary. She encouraged alumni who have not yet sent in their donation to do so as soon as possible so that they can double in value. Checks can be made payable to Scholarship Foundation of East Providence, with Class of 1964 on the memo line, and mailed to the Foundation at P.O. Box 154438, East Providence, RI 02915.
