Knights of Columbus Pledge Support for West Bay Residential Services

October 23rd, 2013 [Warwick, Rhode Island] West Bay Residential Services is excited to announce a continuing long-term partnership with one of its local benefactors. Rhode Island’s Warwick branch of Knights of Columbus [475 Sandy Lane, Council 2295] has committed to ongoing and enhanced support of West Bay. The charitable men’s association has a history of offering free use of its Sandy Lane rental hall for West Bay fundraisers and social events. Recently, they provided brand new athletic gear to the West Bay Olympians in the June 2013 Special Olympics Rhode Island Summer Games. As of last month, the Warwick Knights of Columbus have ‘upped the ante’ and decided to forge a permanent relationship with West Bay, committing to donating monthly funds for specific needs of residents’ day programs.

In August, the Knights of Columbus donated office supplies valued at hundreds of dollars. In September, they supplied West Bay with landscaping materials for a day-program enabling residents to beautify the garden at the Whiting Street home in Cranston.

These contributions to West Bay on behalf of the Knights of Columbus signify only the beginning of an enduring relationship between the two organizations, whose worthy missions will be strengthened by this joining of forces. “This mutually rewarding partnership could not come at a better time, with the developmental disabilities community facing a funding shortfall,” said West Bay Assistant Director, Kathy Millard. “With a solid pledge of loyalty from the Knights of Columbus, West Bay can continue to build strategic partnerships with local organizations to benefit its residents and program participants, helping to further integrate them into the lively Rhode Island community.”

About Knights of Columbus Warwick, Council 2295

The Knights of Columbus Council 2295 was organized in Warwick, Rhode Island during 1953.  After three years of hard work by brother knights who donated their time, money, and prayers for the success of this project, it was announced that the Council Home would be dedicated on Sunday October 7, 1956.  Due to the founding leaders' vision and the good stewardship of the Corporation Officers that have followed over the past 57 years, the members of Council #2295 today are able to enjoy this Council Home.  Knights of Columbus Council 2295 donates to local Catholic Schools, the eleven Warwick Parishes, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, CYO, and other youth programs and charitable organizations.
