Revs Stars Jerry Bengtson and Jose Goncalves Teach an East Providence Resident the Way of the Net in Youth Soccer Clinic at Moses Brown School

More than 50 kids, including Evan Rodriguez of Providence, from the Rhode Island-based program Project GOAL turned out to dribble, shoot and score with Major League Soccer (MLS) players Jerry Bengtson and Jose Goncalves of the New England Revolution at a youth soccer clinic at Moses Brown School in Providence Wednesday afternoon.

The clinic promoted the launch of three Revs’ Charitable Drive collection dates, which will begin on Saturday, July 13 before the team’s match against the Houston Dynamo – where fans are asked to bring new or gently-used soccer equipment to designated areas around Gillette Stadium prior to kickoff.

All donations will benefit Project GOAL, a Rhode Island-based program committed to developing the state’s disadvantaged youth through after-school tutoring and soccer-related programs.

Wednesday’s event took place at Wasserman Field in Providence, R.I., with the kids learning tips and tricks from forward Jerry Bengtson and defender Jose Goncalves. Project GOAL students, in fact, got an early start on the Charitable Drive Series at the clinic by donating some of their own outgrown equipment to their program, which will go towards Saturday’s collection.
