EP Volunteer Services for Animals Seeks Funding Help

A recent Gofundme.com fundraiser for East Providence Volunteer Services for Animals has met it's $500 goal, but that's a fraction of the help they still need.

"We'd be happy to have more money," said Meribeth Bowden, coordinator at the Rumford Animal Shelter. That's likely an understatement, as recent veterinary bills for the charity weighed in at $10,000 from September through December alone.

Bowden said the shelter cares for and places about 130-150 cats and kittens a year. She said the bills are always high, because "We take in the sickest of the sick and we make them well."

Bowden said continuing donations through their Gofundme page are welcome, but interested donors can also send funds to the center directly in care of the shelter: PO Box 16142, Rumford, 02916.
