Historic District Commission meets Wednesday night at 7pm at East Providence City Hall.

THE VERY MERRY DICKENS CAROLERS present A “HOLLY-JOLLY” FAMILY CONCERT Wednesday, December 12, 6:30-7:30pm. Now in its 9th season, the Very Merry Dickens Carolers is a group of professional singers who love the music of the season and enjoy bringing its festive sounds to audiences.  Dressed in Victorian costumes, the carolers sing in rich four-part a cappella harmony performing some of the best music of the holidays. Takes place at the Weaver Library Program Room.

This Day in History: On this day in 1980, American oil tycoon Armand Hammer pays $5,126,000 at auction for a notebook containing writings by the legendary artist Leonardo da Vinci. The manuscript, written around 1508, was one of some 30 similar books da Vinci produced during his lifetime on a variety of subjects. It contained 72 loose pages featuring some 300 notes and detailed drawings, all relating to the common theme of water and how it moved.
