Bay View Academy - A Celebration of Spectacular Entertainment from May 1st-4th

East Providence, RI – Over 80 student singers and dancers are warming up and stretching out as they rehearse for the 31st anniversary of Bay View Academy’s Manhattan at the Bay, taking place next Thursday through Sunday, May 1st-4th. Directors Christine D. Kavanagh (Barrington, RI) and Diane Gualtieri (Warwick, RI), have assembled a talented cast and crew to create the original cabaret-style production, Making Memories. It’s a celebration of song and dance that will take the audience on a 20th century whirlwind tour through Thailand, India, China, Italy, Ireland, England and back home to the USA. The entire Bay View community is working together to make this important fundraiser a success, including Visual Arts Chairperson, Mary Jane Andreozzi (Seekonk, MA), who created a life-size elephant for the production (see attached photo). Tickets are $25 a piece and can be purchased at www.bayviewacademy.org/manhattanatthebay2014. Show tickets can also be purchased at the door before each performance. Please see the performance schedule below.

In addition to the five public presentations of Making Memories, Bay View is hosting an entire weekend of events, at all price points to entertain all age groups. The gala event of the weekend is Taste of the Bay on Saturday evening, May 3rd, from 4:30 – 8:00 PM. Taste of the Bay celebrates its third anniversary this year and features one hundred different types of wine and beer, courtesy of Clift's Liquors (East Providence), plus tasty bites to tempt the palate from area restaurants and bakeries, live entertainment and a silent auction. It’s a grown up evening out to support the girls and young women of Bay View Academy. Tickets are $50 and include the 100 different wine and beers to try, plus fare from the following: Chapel Grille (Cranston), Rosalina (Providence), Pizzico (Providence and Barrington), Great Harvest Bread (North Kingston), Sage Cafe (East Providence), Magic Pizza (Mansfield, MA), Dolce Gelateria (Providence), Roma (Providence), Panera Bread (Seekonk, MA), PieZoni's (East Providence), Cilantro Mexican Grill (Providence), 88 Lounge (Providence), Lynne's Dolce e Pane (Providence), St. Angelo's (East Providence), O Dinis (East Providence), Buffalo Wild Wings (Warwick), and Blue Kangaroo Cafe (Barrington). Advanced ticketing is encouraged to ensure admittance; however, tickets will be available at the door until capacity is reached.

Friday, May 2nd, is family night at Manhattan at the Bay, featuring a family dinner before the show for $15 per person and $10 for children (12 and under). This special event for families, featuring special placemats for coloring and characters in costume for children to meet, is being sponsored by WinkFlash (www.winkflash.com). WinkFlash is a photo storage, printing and gift website owned by a Bay View family. Rosalina, a new restaurant opening in Providence, is donating a delicious Italian-style meal. Lemon & Oil (Seekonk, MA) is supplying the salad. In addition, there will be chicken fingers, french fries and ice cream sundaes for children. A cash bar for the adults, as well as Shirley Temples and Roy Rodgers for the children will be available. Tickets for Family Night must be purchased in advance by April 29th: events.bayviewacademy.org
