BAY VIEW ACADEMY CELEBRATES AS TEN JUNIORS ARE COMMISSIONED EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

East Providence, RI –  At the recent All Saints’ Day Mass at St. Mary Academy – Bay View, ten juniors were commissioned as Eucharistic ministers and blessed by Father Peter Mongeon (Cranston, RI). The entire Academy, from three year olds in preschool to seniors in the Upper School, gathered for the prayer service.

In order to become a Eucharistic Minister at Bay View Academy, a student must be a junior or a senior in good standing, who worships regularly and receives the sacrament themselves. They must also be a part of peer ministry at Bay View.

The Peer Ministry program is integral to the Upper School’s Campus Ministry. It is an organized effort to develop and sustain a core group of students to act as role models and leaders in collaboration with the administration and faculty, in order to continue the legacy of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy. Peer ministers serve the school community by creating opportunities for spiritual growth through prayer services, retreats, liturgies and community outreach.
