BAY VIEW ACADEMY STUDENTS AND FACULTY HIGHLIGHTED AT AREA GALLERIES AND ART SHOWS

East Providence, RI – Both students and teachers from Bay View Academy’s Visual Arts Department have been well represented throughout Providence this month. Earlier in March, Mary Jane Andreozzi (Seekonk, MA), Chairperson of Visual Arts at Bay View, was featured alongside Bay View Visual Arts teacher, Margaret Harris (Warwick, RI), at the Rhode Island Art Educators Association’s Annual Show in the Krause Gallery at Moses Brown.

Mary Jane is also one of four artists whose work is currently featured in Color Sense, the inaugural exhibit at ArtProv Gallery. The show’s Grand Opening isn’t until April 17th, but the gallery opened its doors for one night only on March 20th as a sneak preview during Providence’s Gallery Night. According to The Providence Journal, the artists featured in the show, “celebrate the sensuous qualities of color, light and texture.

Bay View Upper School students are being recognized for their work as well. Seven juniors and seniors are currently featured in the Central Gallery Annual High School Art Exhibit at the Central Congregational Church in Providence. This annual event features the best student work from area high schools and this year included twelve pieces from Bay View. The gallery committee selects the work by visiting each school and choosing what they want to include in the show. This year the committee chose from seven area high schools and the resulting display will be up until March 31st. One Bay View student in particular, Emily Sulanowski, was given an additional honor for the Central Gallery exhibit: the Committee Commendation Award for her painting, The Push Pin.
