Little League to Play for Cancer Awareness

Riverside Little League in East Providence hosts its first 'Cancer Awareness Tournament' this weekend.

Riverside Little League in East Providence hosts a "Cancer Awareness Tournament" this weekend, Oct. 5-6. 

The fall baseball fundraiser runs from 9 am to 5 pm each day at the baseball complex on Wampanoag Trail just north of Forbes Street. 

It is the league’s first fall tournament.

October is Cancer Awareness Month. And the league decided it wanted to do its part in the fight to find a cure for this dreaded disease, according to its website

Riverside Little League is a tax-exempt nonprofit 501c3 organization. One hundred percent of the proceeds of this tournament will be going to PINK HEALS, an organization completely made up of volunteers who reach out to families in need, according to its website.

“We’ve chosen this organization since all proceeds go to helping those in need and do not go toward administrative costs,” the league said.

In addition to great baseball action, there will be plenty of raffles and gift baskets, a 50/50 raffle, face painting and much more.
