Bounce at Sky Zone Starting Today

Rhode Island's first all-trampoline playing court opens today, Dec. 26, in the Rumford neighborhood of East Providence.

You and your kids can bounce, dip, dodge, duck and dive starting today, Dec 26, when a Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park – the first one in Rhode Island -- opens in East Providence.

The all-trampoline playing courts are located at 70 Pawtucket Ave. in a brand new addition to a long warehouse-like building in the Rumford section of East Providence. Owner Stella Downie is opening the fun park just in time for school vacation week.

“People don’t know how to play any more,” said Downie, who also owns Sky Zone parks in the Hyde Park section of Boston and Everett, Mass.

Downie introduced her latest Sky Zone at an event for friends and family of employees last Friday. From what I saw, it doesn’t seem possible not to have fun at the all-trampoline facility. And to burn some calories, too.

“More than 1,000 calories an hour,” she said. “You can play and get fit at the same time.”

Sky Zone jumpers, divers, and dodgers are separated by size, she said. Each one gets their own square of trampoline separated by blue bumpers. There is even a toddler trampoline.

Everyone must sign a liability waiver and get a briefing on the rules. You must wear special Sky Zone shoes – part of the admission price, which ranges from $8 to $20 depending on how long you want to have fun.

There are special “toddler times” too, she said. Kids who walk up to 40 inches tall can take part in those times with the entire family.
