Chamber to Hold Business Workshops This Winter

Following surveys of businesses across town, the NK Chamber of Commerce is holding a series of workshops to focus on five key areas.

The following is a press release from the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce.

In October 2012, the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce issued a five question survey that supplied a bounty of information.  The top five concerns of businesses which responded were:

  1. Taxes and town regulations
  2. Networking with other businesses
  3. Marketing of their business
  4. Business development
  5. North Kingstown economic development

The Chamber of Commerce is responding to your concerns by holding two networking events per month and by developing a professional development/business development seminar series.

On Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 8 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce Town Manager Mike Emburywill give a presentation on the re-evaluation process and the forecast for taxes in the coming year.

On Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 8 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce CPA Scott Libman of Libman & Associates LTD will present on the new tax laws that will go into effect for 2013.  Both of these workshops will be held at the Chamber of Commerce.

February 5 will kickoff our Business Educating Business Seminar Series with a presentation How to Double Your Sales in the New Economy by Marc Wayshak, the author of two sales books, “Game Plan Selling” and “Breaking All Barriers.”

In this highly interactive program, you will learn how to:

  • Separate yourself from the competition;
  • Use a simple system to close sales more quickly and with greater frequency; and
  • Apply Marc’s 2X FormulaTM to your own business and see exactly how you can double sales.

Immediately following Wayshak’s presentation:

Great! Martha Pughe can update us on her plans to 'divide the town into quadrants, and then get them working with each other', and Halley (also with the 'chamber') can tell us how to screw with federal special needs funds and get caught! LOL what a gas...

@psonk....must you always be such a bore? Miss Pughe is as fine as they come. Let me translate "quadrants" for you. 1. Town officials 2. Schools 3. Business 4. Community residents. I wonder, do you even know any of these folks you target with "off" sense of humor? Have you ever had any professional or personal dealings with Miss Pughe? If not.... then keep your misguided assumptions to yourself in the future... please and thank you!!

Interesting revised description of "quadrants". Really shouldnt the 'chamber' become at least a little bit useful to BUSINESS first? Where was its statement on allowing the north end commercial property to deteriorate while the council approved the development of the south in violation of the comprehensive plan? Oh thats RIGHT, since the chamber is a stooge arm of NKGOP they would never do THAT. To answer your question, no. The comments section is for ALL thoughts and viewpoints. Not just yours. What PLANET are you from? Second and more importantly, I noticed you did not address the other character who sits on the board of the 'chamber' JAMES HALLEY. The fact that someone with his record can be elected to the chamber speaks volumes (as if we didnt already know). If Pughe feels important piddling around with that useless and highly political outfit, good for them. I'll take my opportunity to point to whats just under the veneer, in case anybody might be thinking of taking time away from their business to waste in on them. My opinion of course. As far as I am concerned the NKGOP and their little affiliates like the chamber are the bane of a healthy NK. MY vision of NK doesnt include either one. If you dont like opinions that are unlike yours I invite you not to visit here or comment. Thats one thing you DO have control over.
