VIDEO: Townie Times Coming to Town

The Townie Times, a newspaper dedicated to covering East Providence news, will be hitting stands in a little over a month.

According to owner Brian Coogan, the free newspaper will make its debut late March or early April. It will be published every two weeks but the online site will post breaking news. About 24,000 copies of the first issue will be mailed to East Providence households, according to Coogan.

"We're going to be doing something different," he said in a telephone interview, noting he wants to highlight the positive achievements of the East Providence community.

He hired about 12 employees including reporters, sales representatives and graphic designers. The office is located at 152 Warren Ave.

According to a YouTube video, they will be covering news, arts, school sports, weddings and births.
