5 Things to Know About Today

Warm rainfall; special education committee meets; free tax service; strength and step class; AA meeting.

Here are five things you should know about today in East Providence:

  1. Temperatures return to the mid-50s today with cloudy skies early and showers developing for the afternoon hours.
  2. The EP Local Advisory Committee for Special Education meets at 7 pm in the Martin Middle School library with a presentation by ADD/ADHD coach and organizer Sherri Silverstein from All About Organizing, Inc. She will talk about the benefits of working with a coach and organizer and you can learn some strategies to help your child stay organized at school.
  3. East Bay Community Action's RSVP Program is sponsoring the VITA Free Tax Service from today, Jan. 16, to April 15. Program qualifying income is $51,000 and below. Call East Bay RSVP at 435-7876 for an appointment, location and directions. 
  4. The East Providence Recreation Center, 100 Bullocks Point Ave., offers a Strength ‘n Step class from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
  5. Newman Congregational Church, 100 Newman Ave., Rumford hosts an AA meeting in the chapel at 8 pm.
