Flash Flood Watch Issued For Tuesday

National Weather Service issues a warning.

Tuesday's heavy rainfall could potentially bring with it flash flooding, according to forecasters. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for most of Rhode Island as the state gears up for possible torrential downpours this afternoon and into the evening.

Bristol, Kent, Washington and Newport County are all included in the watch, which expires at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Rainfall is expected to be incredibly heavy at times with rainfall rates topping two inches per hour, posing a problem to low-lying areas, small creek and small streams. The rains should let up by early evening, according to NWS.
