Two East Providence lawmakers are holding an informational meeting to help residents find out how to avoid foreclosure.
Rep. Roberto DaSilva (D-Dist. 63, East Providence, Pawtucket) and Sen. Frank A. DeVall Jr. (D-Dist. 18, East Providence) are encouraging homeowners who are having a hard time making their mortgage payments to attend the June 13 meeting, according to a news release.
People may qualify for assistance through the Hardest Hit Fund Rhode Island if they have encountered a documented hardship, such as loss of a job, unexpected medical expenses, underemployment, disability of a wage-earner or costs from the flooding of 2010, according to the release.
Assistance will only be available to homeowners who have gone through other sources of support and don't own other real estate, according to the release.
The informational meeting will be held June 13 at , 2595 Pawtucket Ave., at 6 p.m. A Portuguese translator will be present.
