Rumford Neighborhood Parades Again

For the 30th consecutive year, ghosts, goblins, witches, Ninjas, ladybugs, and every type of costumed kid imaginable -- and more than a few costumed parents, friends, neighbors and a few pets as well -- paraded in Rumford on Halloween.

"It was started by two neighbors to show off the costumes of kids," said Mark Laliberte, who has been coordinating the event with his wife, Judith, for the past seven years. "It's just a fun community thing."

An estimated 400 marchers paraded south on Don Avenue to Greenwood Avenue, turned right, and then turned right again on Caitlin Avenue to march back to the start at Sheldon Street. A police cruiser led the way.

"This is a pretty nice little neighborhood," said Laliberte. "All we do is pass out flyers to our neighbors about the parade. The word just spreads from there."

"It just seems to get bigger and better every year," he said.

Then the kids go trick-or-treating.
