Tuesday: School Committee Meets Tonight, Emergency Drill This Morning

Here are five things you should know today in and around East Providence.

  1. Today's weather should be mostly sunny with a high around 46 degrees, says the National Weather Service.
  2. If you see emergency vehicles and commotion over at Bradley Hospital this morning, don't be alarmed.  Bradley, in cooperation with the East Providence police department, is holding an emergency drill this morning frm 9 am to noon.
  3. The East Providence School Committee meets tonight at 6:30 pm.
  4. There are two sessions of the Book Group at Weaver Library, one at 2 pm and one at 7 pm.  Both sessions will discuss Yoko Ogawa's The Housekeeper and the Professor. New members are always welcome!
  5. There's a workshop on making holiday centerpieces, tonight from 7 to 9 pm at Caratunk Wildlife Refuge over in Seekonk.  Pre-registration is required.

Now the school committee has a problem. With the Moody's dropping the axe on the city's financial condition, what will they do to correct their ailing high school? If they fail the air quality test, the school may close....Now what?

Have no fear Rossi will come to the rescue. She will simply recommend they leave all the doors and windows open to improve the air quality....

Yeah, right!

What value do personal attacks bring? Do you have anything to say that carries substance or do you simply like to see your words in type? Govstench raises a concern, oliver brings an attack. Un-American.

You are right Lmanchester, and people need to engage, attend meetings and challenge these leaders to hear what they plan to do. The clock is ticking and its the 4th Qtr with 2 minutes left. What is the game play?

After selling ads on the website, and ads in the school buildings, the next Rossi/Rogers plan will be to sell sponsorships for all our buildings...the coca-cola high school; the Dunkin Donuts Police Station; The Fire Station by Sleepy's Mattresses; and maybe city hall brought to you by a bankruptcy attourney!!!

Taking JR's comments one step further, they could sell ads to the attorneys that will be looking for clients for the Mesothelioma suits that will be filed. Fast Eddy Daft is spinning the heck out of this issue and perhaps the parents need to petition to see this high school complex for themselves to see how really bad it is and what they are exposing their children to.
