"Chefs at the Market:" Hourglass Brasserie at Mount Hope Farmers Market

Join us at the Mount Hope Farmers Market on Saturday September 28th from 10:30-12:00pm for the next event in our Chefs at the Market series, featuring Chef Rizwan Ahmed, the head chef and owner of Hourglass Brasserie in Bristol. Ahmed (“Chef Riz” to his friends and fans) will be showing us how he prepares Citrus-cured Sea Scallops with Pickled Beets & Asiago Cheese!

Chefs at the Market
is a series of cooking demonstrations & tastings at the Mount Hope Farmers Market, featuring the talent of area chefs who source local ingredients, and highlighting the wealth of ingredients available from our local farmers and producers.  Each month a different chef presents a cooking demonstration and tasting at the market, featuring the vegetables, fruits, herbs, cheeses, meats and seafood that the are available at the market. Market-goers will be able to observe, learn a new recipe or technique, discover how to work with a particular ingredient they might be unfamiliar with, and taste delicious food prepared by a talented local chef!

Ahmed cooked in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world before settling in Bristol and opening his restaurant here.  Before studying at Le Cordon Bleu in London and becoming a chef, Ahmed was a marine biologist, and he maintains a deep commitment to serving and promoting sustainable seafood--as well as local sourcing of meats and vegetables.

***Next up in the Chefs at the Market Series, Chef Champe Spiedel of Persimmon, October 26th! ***
