The Panama Canal: A Century Old, But Building for the Future

Weaver Library and the East Providence Historical Society are proud to present a slide talk in celebration of the Centennial of the Panama Canal in the Champlin Program Room of the Library.  Author and speaker Chip Bishop has just returned from Panama where he was the featured presenter on a Theodore Roosevelt Association tour of the Panama Canal.  Bishop’s talk “The Panama Canal – A Century Old but Building for the Future” will include the historic role of Rumford’s Joseph Bucklin Bishop in the Canal’s history. Chip is the great-grandnephew of Joseph Bucklin Bishop, a newspaper editor, and authorized biographer and close friend of President Theodore Roosevelt.
