Trash Your Office Day in East Providence

BUSINESSES ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN TRASH YOUR OFFICE
DAY

The East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce and East
Providence Department of Public Works/Refuse & Recycling Division are
hosting "Trash Your Office Day" at the end of the month.

In response to businesses dealing with the dilemma of
accumulating broken or old computers and office equipment, the Chamber created
the program a few years ago with the assistance of the City's DPW. This year's
event will be held on Wednesday, July 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

East Providence businesses will be able to dispose of their
old office equipment at no cost by taking it to the City's Department of Public
Works, located at 60 Commercial Way. Up to twenty pieces of old office
equipment can be dropped off for free. Examples of equipment: computer tower,
cell phone, DVD player, monitor, keyboard, mouse, fax machine, telephone,
desktop copier, etc. The discarded items will then be hauled away and
"de-manufactured." The parts will be sorted and recycled whenever
possible, and their metal content removed.

Businesses that have old computers (with or without
software) that still work are encouraged to contact David Bachrach, East
Providence's community development coordinator, at (401) 435-7535. This equipment
may be useful to underprivileged people who are in need of a computer to
improve their computer skills for potential employment.

(21 pieces or more), they should contact Donna McMahon at the DPW office at
(401) 438-7710 to make an appointment to drop it off.
