EP Veterans' Day: Monuments and Moments

During a brief ceremony this morning, members of American Legion Post 10 observed a flag raising in observance of Veterans Day and gathered at the post.

Later this afternoon, the Legion hall at 830 Willett Ave., Riverside, was all but deserted, the bartender the lone occupant of the large, powder blue painted cinder-block structure.

Members of the Riverside veterans organization, about 20 of them, visited a local Friendly's Restaurant for a free breakfast offered to veterans in honor of the day, then Applebee's for a free lunch in their honor, the bartender said.

Elsewhere around East Providence, the City's veterans memorials bore modest wreaths and adornments.
