Albert F. Shovelton, 88, Teacher for 31 Years

His calling hours are today and his funeral is tomorrow from W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home in Riverside.

Albert F. Shovelton, of “Harborview,” 3663 Pawtucket Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on September 6, 2013. He was 88.

He was the beloved husband of Joan (Silvia) Shovelton. Born in Fall River, Mass., a son of the late Albert E. and Margaret (Meagher) Shovelton, he lived in Riverside for 41 years. 

Shovelton was a teacher for the North Attleboro School Department for 26 years before retiring in 1997. He then went onto to teach at St. Brendan School for 5 years. 

He was a communicant of St. Brendan Church and a former member of the church choir. He was a graduate of The University of Rhode Island, where he also was a member of the Alumni Association. He was a published author. 

Besides his wife of 44 years, he is survived by a son; Brian A. Shovelton of Warwick and two brothers; Rev. William J. Shovelton and Rev. Gerald T. Shovelton, both of Lady Lake, FL. 

His funeral will be held on Tuesday September 10, 2013, from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are today from 4-8 pm. Flowers are respectfully omitted.
