Barbara P. Sunman

Barbara P. Sunman, of Riverside, East Providence, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013.

She was the wife of the late Richard Sunman. Born in East Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Donovan) Jackowitz.

She was a lifelong resident of East Providence. She worked in the offices of Met Life, Blackstone Mutual, Columbia National and Maryland Casualty insurance companies.

She graduated from Edgewood Secretarial School, Bryant College, and the University of Rhode Island, and served in the Civil Defense during World War II.. She was a member of the RI Watercolor Society and was a Past Master of Roger Williams Grange.

She leaves a daughter, Nancy Crowther of Virginia, and two grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Shirley Rock.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue Riverside, on Friday, Feb. 1, at 10 am. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.

Arrangements are being handled by the Smith-Mason Funeral Home in Riverside.
