Joao C. Botelho, 71: Worked in Environmental Services at Rhode Island Hospital

Joao C. Botelho, 71, formerly of Orchard St., died peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at the RI Hospital, according to Rebello Funeral Home. 

He was the husband of Delia (Soares) Botelho.

Born Dec. 3, 1942, in Livremento, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Joao Botelho de Medeiros and Hilda da Conceicao DoRego de Medeiros. A devoted communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, Mr. Botelho worked in Environmental Services at the RI Hospital before retiring in 2009.

In addition to his wife of 46 years, he leaves his three daughters and sons-in-law, Luisa and Ric Botelho of Mississagua, Ontario, Sandra and James Medeiros of East Providence and Joanne and Rui Custodio of Seekonk; six grandchildren, Shawn, Brandon, Nicholas, Eric, Sophia and Lucas; and his sisters, Maria Merces Tavares and Maria Leonor Tavares, both of New Bedford.

He was father of the late Robert C. Botelho and brother of the late Leonardo Augusto Botelho.

His funeral will begin Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with at Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, No. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
