Jose V. Faria, 93

Jose V. Faria, of Woodland Avenue, East Providence, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Steere House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was 93.

He was the husband of Ana E. (Gomes) Faria. He was born in Praia do Norte, Faial, Azores, a son of the late Manuel G. and Ana E. (Andrade) Faria.

Faria worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Providence for many years before retiring. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church and also a member of the choir.

Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Maria Teresinha Correia and Ana G. Faria both of East Providence, two sons, Manuel G. Faria and Antonio F. Faria both of East Providence, four sisters, Ana Pinheiro of Rehoboth, Virginia Moitoso, Teresa Gomes and Leonor Matafome all of East Providence, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was the father of the late Maria F. Faria and Joseph R. Faria and brother of the late Maria Freitas, Emilia Medeiros, Luisa Andrade, Aurelia Perry, Amelia Ferreira, Manuel and Sergio Faria.

His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 am from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street, East Providence.

Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm.
