Joseph White, 77: Husband, Father, RI Racing Pigeon Club Member

Joseph White, 77, of Leonard Ave., died Dec. 8, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, according to Rebello Funeral Home. 

He was the husband of the late Stasia Nancy (Styga) White.

Born Oct. 21, 1936, in East Providence, he was a son of the late Antonio Silveira Branco White and Maria (Andrade) White Vincent. Joe was well known by pigeon enthusiasts, having kept pigeons since childhood, and breeding his birds since the late 1960's. For many years he was a member of the RI Racing Pigeon Club. In particular he was known for his Roller and Tumbler breeds. He had many good and loyal friends, some of whom sought him out for advice on raising their own birds.

He leaves his three sons, William J. White (Sonya Duque) of Lincoln, Vernon A. White (Jayna) of Cumberland, and Joseph S. White (Heather Briggs) of Coventry; three daughters, Doreen J. Tripp (Bradford) of East Falmouth, MA, Stasia A. Kennett of Portland, ME, and Paula A. White of East Providence; six grandchildren, William, Trevor, Alysia, Nicholas, Alexandra and Serena; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of Anna Haught of Klamath Falls, OR, Anthony White of Fresno, CA, Lester Richard White of Long Beach, CA, Frank White of Detroit, OR, Carol Monteiro of Rumford and of the late Mary Lou Rossi.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church, No. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial is private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
