Manuel F. DeSousa, 90: Retired from Environmental Services at St. Joseph's

Manuel F. DeSousa, 90 of King Philip Road passed away on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at Country Gardens. 

He was the husband of Maria DaConceicao (Pereira) DeSousa. Born in Faja de Cima, Sao Miguel, Azores he was a son of the late Francisco F. and Maria T. (DoRego) DeSousa.  

DeSousa worked in the environmental services department at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Providence for many years before retiring. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.

Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Lucy M. Pereira of East Providence, two sons, David P. DeSousa of South Carolina and Michael P. DeSousa of Seekonk, one brother, John Desousa of Burlington, Ontario, Canada and six grandchildren.  He was the brother of the late Aida DaPonte.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
