Richard A. Fontes, of Irving Avenue, formerly of Swansea Mass.,, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Home & Hospice Care of RI, Providence. He was 71.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frank and Eva (Andrade) Fontes.

He was an Air Force veteran during the Vietnam conflict and was a former East Providence police officer. He was employed with the Federal Aviation Administration before his retirement in 2001.
Fontes leaves a daughter, Michelle Fontes-Barros, and her husband, Victor Barros, Jr.; a grandson, Jordan I. Barros, and a brother, Frank Fontes. He was the brother of the late Priscilla Fontes.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, in Swan Point Historical Chapel, Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Boulevard, Providence at 11 am with Military Honors. Interment will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
