Richard "Skip" Swanson, 64, Retired National Grid Supervisor

His calling hours are Wednesday, Aug. 28, from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home in Riverside.

Richard J. "Skip" Swanson, of Burnside Avenue, Riverside, East Providence, died unexpectedly on Aug. 25, 2013. He was 64.

He was the beloved husband of Paula (Tomaselli) Swanson. Born in Providence, a son of Gloria (Barnes) McCagney of Barrington and the late Ralph Swanson, he lived in Riverside for 37 years. 

Swanson was a supervisor for National Grid  for 30 years before retiring in 2008. He was a member of the West Barrington Men’s Club. He enjoyed biking and boating. Swanson was a Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Ashland during the Vietnam era. 

Besides his wife of 41 years and his mother, he is survived by a son; Andrew P. Swanson of Riverside, a daughter; Stephanie A. Swanson-Carroll of Riverside, a sister; Susan Swanson Bissionette of Cumberland, a brother; Bill McCagney of Warren and three grandchildren; Lexi, Tori and Max Carroll. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, on Wednesday Aug. 28, 2013, from 3-7 pm. Burial will be private.
