East Providence Police arrested a Central Falls man on March 14 after two witnesses told officers that they saw the man break the window of Brothers Gas and flee the scene.
Christopher Wilkins, 22, of 132 Hunt St., Central Falls, faces vandalism and disorderly conduct charges after officers found him in the parking lot of Agawam Hunt Country Club just before 8 pm.
Patrol Ofc. Justin Ogni reported that he went with another officer to Brothers Gas after a clerk at the store called police about a male subject "yelling at everyone."
Ogni drove to the area and saw the man, later identified as Wilkins, walking along the road. Wilkins ran away when he saw Ogni's cruiser, and Ogni chased him on foot, according to police reports.
After Ogni caught him, Wilkins admitted to breaking the window, reported Ogni, who also noted that Wilkins had a "large and deep laceration" near his right elbow.
David Hawksley, the clerk at the station, and a witness who had been filling up her vehicle both told officers that they had seen Wilkins break the window.
The driver also said she had to close the windows of her vehicle and raise the volume of the radio so that her 3-year-old child would not hear the "obscenities" that Wilkins had been yelling, Ogni wrote.
Officers brought Wilkins to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. He is due to appear in court tomorrow.
