Early-Morning Stabbing Leads to Arrest

A Providence man, 22, is arrested after the stabbing of another Providence man, 21, after a party at an East Providence home.

 

East Providence police have arrested a Providence man, 22, with an alleged lengthy criminal record for his reported involvement in the stabbing with a knife of another Providence man, 21, early Sunday morning on Bliss Street at Brightridge Avenue, according to Det. Capt. Richard Frazier.

Frazier said he believes the stabbing occurred after a party in that area ended with a fight that spilled out onto the street. Numerous people were involved.

Frazier said the victim was stabbed in the abdomen. He is said to be recovering with non-life threatening injuries at Rhode Island Hospital.

Frazier said the man in custody would face a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Adult Correctional Institution. He was picked up on a probation violation.

The suspect’s name was not released as of Sunday evening. He was referred to by Frazier only as a "person of interest."
