Cranston Fire Department Boat Assisted EPFD during call.

East Providence Firefighters were called to Waterfront Drive at 8 a.m. today for an old rail bridge on fire in the Seekonk River, putting out the blaze with the help of Cranston Firefighters.

EastBayRI.com reports the fire was put out using portable pumps on the shoreline and with the assistance of a Cranston Fire Department boat

Cranston Fire Lt. Walter Karbowski said the fire was out in about an hour. He said the fire was in the bridge's old pilings, which were soaked with creosote.
