E.P. House Broken Into, Trashed Soon After Closing

East Providence police called to investigate Goldsmith Avenue home vandalized soon after the closing on the sale.

Sometime after the old and new owners of a Goldsmith Avenue home in East Providence closed on the sale on Monday, Sept. 23, it was broken into and vandalized. 

East Providence police were called around 4:45 pm to investigate the report of the B&E and vandalism. No suspects were reported as of Tuesday morning. 

Police found that holes were punched into the walls in the laundry room and white and peach-colored paint were splashed on the floors in the bedrooms and living room.

Investigators also discovered that the microwave in the kitchen was broken.

The old owner reported the damage to the police, according to the incident report. He had returned around 4:30 pm on Monday to remove some furniture from the property.

He told police that his son had been in the house around 9:30 am. The damage occurred, therefore, between mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

The investigation into the incident continues, according to the police report.
